Ask Amos Dubacher, who works as a technical planner at Swiss crane service provider Welti Furrer, and he will tell you that the Tadano AC 4.070-2 <\/a><\/strong>is an extraordinary crane: \u201cWe know from experience that Tadano cranes are characterized by unrivaled quality and that the service the manufacturer provides is worth its weight in gold. And on top of that, the incredible price\u2013performance ratio was so compelling that it pretty much sealed the deal right away.\u201d he underscored during the handover by Tadano Sales Manager Michael Zieger at Welti Furrer\u2019s premises in Windisch.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Welti Furrer ordered its AC 4.070-2 with an 8x4x8 drive and 14.00R25 tires: \u201cThat combination was perfect for us given the resulting weight, improved gradeability, and largest possible steering angle,\u201d Amos Dubacher explains. In addition to the 50-meter main boom, the crane experts from Switzerland also ordered a 16-meter main boom extension, which can also be used as an 8.5-meter-long single jib that can be mechanically offset at an angle of 20\u00b0 or 40\u00b0. In addition, the crane has a radio remote control for all crane functions and the tried-and-true IC-1 Plus crane control system, including the Flex Base outrigger system. The latter makes it possible to extend the crane\u2019s outriggers to any point within their available range and will enable the unit to easily handle challenging conditions at work sites where space is at a premium. A working area limiter, a hook load and hoisting winch camera, an optional blind spot camera on the superstructure, and, of course, the one-of-a-kind Tadano Surround View system on the carrier further round out the equipment featured by the new crane. In fact, Welti Furrer did not hold back even when it came to the unit\u2019s counterweight: The AC 4.070-2 was handed over with a full 11.9-tonne counterweight that is split into five separate elements and makes it possible to travel on roads while staying under a 12-tonne axle load limit. Amos Dubacher sees this mobility as yet another crucial advantage behind the crane \u2013 and the same goes for its compact design, which together with the aforementioned Flex Base should enable the AC 4.070-2 to easily handle even the tightest work sites in Switzerland.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Welti Furrer plans to use its AC 4.070-2 throughout all of Switzerland at each of its ten company locations, especially for work related to prefab wood component construction, prefab home assembly, and lightweight steel construction erection. In fact, the Tadano crane\u2019s extraordinary 6.8-tonne line pull at winch H1 should prove to be indispensable for this type of work. Moreover, the Swiss experts are also planning to use their new AC 4.070-2 as a conventional taxi crane.
