Movember started in Australia as a bit of a joke when two guys noticed that moustaches were nowhere to be seen and they wanted to bring them back. Inspired by a friend\u2019s mother who was campaigning for breast cancer, they decided to get more of their friends to grow a \u2018mo\u2019 to campaign for men\u2019s health and prostate cancer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Movember movement\u2019s success was largely due to the conversations that Growing a Mo initiated. It is a conversation that Tadano Oceania wanted to join as we are part of a largely male-dominated industry. Men are less likely to seek help with medical and mental help issues, and we believe this annual movement brings this problem to the spotlight and reminds us all to seek help when needed and to watch out for all the men in our lives. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

To kick off activities, our marketing team rolled out announcements and promotions on all our channels. With the moustache featuring prominently in our social media promotions, website header banners, newsletters, and email signatures.<\/p>\n\n\n

During our participation in the Crane Industry Council of Australia (CICA) conference, we also had posters displayed encouraging booth visitors to donate or at least create awareness for the cause.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What started out as a fundraiser ended up being a movement that brought the team closer together across the different states.  <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n

Our office administration team in all our offices baked cookies every week for gold coin donations and they were delicious! If you did not get your cookies as they arrived, they would be gone by noon!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our visitors and colleagues who visit any of our offices were invited to guess the number of jellybeans in this jar in order to win it. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our branched held info sessions and distributed information cards on prostate cancer.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

For the \u201cMOvers\u201d in our team who were not growing their Mos, the Movember suggestion was to walk 60 km for the 60 men we lose to suicide each hour across the world. They smashed this goal and even had a friendly rivalry going on among the team, with Brett Criddle at the top. For the month of November, he cycled 36 km to and from work every day, jogged with his dog for 4 km in the morning and walked 5 km in the evening!  <\/p>\n\n\n

We also held an internal raffle to win Tadano merchandise and a gift voucher from our reward hub. Each $1 donated by an employee was automatically entered into the raffle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tadano Oceania had a goal of raising A$5,000 and we ended up raising A$7,244, with Kate Wilson raising A$800.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

What an amazing accomplishment! This was not only a worthy cause for men\u2019s health but a great internal activity that promoted a cohesive and positive culture for our team members, which we in TOP endeavour to put focus on.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n
