Tadano cranes are built to work in and adapt anywhere in the world – and many models offer variations that focus on specific needs for certain markets.
Recently, eight executives from five South Korean crane rental companies traveled to Kagawa in Japan for a first look at the GR-700N-3, an eagerly anticipated 70-ton capacity rough terrain crane model first revealed in October 2025. It was designed and constructed with the most advanced features to fit the needs of the South Korean market.

This visit was the first opportunity these executives had to visit and tour Tadano ’s facilities in Japan. At the Kozai Factory in Kagawa, they met with R&D members who explained the features of the GR-700N-3 originating from the development stage to manufacturing. After, they were able to inspect and explore the actual machine on the ground outside.
The GR-700N-3 is also known as the CREVO 700 G5. The term originated as a portmanteau of “Crane” and “Evolution.” In this case, “G5” refers to the fifth generation of the CREVO series since it was first developed in 1995. The CREVO 700 G5 follows the CREVO 250 G5 and CREVO 160 G5; it is the third entry in the G5 Series.
The crane features a 44m long boom with maximum 38m radius for standard hoisting, extendable to 40m when using the Smart Chart Function. The jib extension can extend the radius to 44m (Standard) and 48m with Smart Chart. The new Boom Telescoping Mode helps increase lifting capacity maximum by 52% overall, with one mode focusing on strength performance, the other on stability. The “Smart Chart” provides higher lifting capacity than standard capacity within a 45° range to the left and right of the front of the crane.
This new model for South Korea includes many environmental considerations, including an environmentally friendly Cummins QSL9-4C engine that complies with EU Stage V emission standards. A new upgrade from the GR-700N-2 includes an automatic accelerator which improves operational efficiency and controls engine speed, saving unnecessary emissions. Furthermore, an “automatic pump disconnect” stops the PTO pump when the crane is not being operated to reduce emissions and fuel consumption.
Safety and Efficiency are among the hallmarks of Tadano’s reputation. The size of the GR-700N-3 means efficient maneuverability on job sites, with a smallest-in-class size of 12.8m x 2.8m.
For safety, the GR-700N-3 offers more opportunity for operators in the cab and those monitoring the crane’s work from afar to be informed on both progress and surroundings. For example, the GR-700N-3 is equipped with the Tadano View System, featuring seven cameras that allow safer traveling and operations with a wider range of vision and alerts when pedestrians or bicyclists are detected, known as the Human Alert System.
Inside the cab, the operator has a convenient – and recently upgraded – 12.1-inch/30.7cm color touch panel that displays a wide range of information including various operation functions. Fitting for any rugged climate or job site, the LCD panel is made of shock-resistant material that diffuses reflection in bright sunlight and condensation. The capacitive touch panel allows it to function like a smart phone.
The South Korean market has been anticipating the upgrades the GR-700N-3 provides. Reactions from the executives were quite positive, with quotes including “It’s finally here” and “We’ve been waiting for this.”
Based on the feedback from these executives, the GR-700N-3 will serve as a valuable asset for rental companies and a very useful rough terrain crane for their customers.
Tadano appreciates and encourages these visits as a way of more strongly connecting with customers from around the world and will continue to customize crane models to meet the needs of specific markets.
