Pangkalan Bekalan Kemaman Sdn Bhd (PBKSB), a subsidiary of Eastern Pacific Industrial Corporation Berhad (EPIC), recently took delivery of two rough terrain Tadano cranes: one GR-300EX and one GR-500EXL model. They will complement five existing Tadano cranes at their bustling Kemaman Supply Base in Kemaman, Terengganu, along East Coast Peninsular Malaysia. EPIC’s Group Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Ts. Haji Muhtar Bin Suhaili, Group Chief Financial Officer, Haji Wan Mohd Azilah Bin Wan Abdullah, and PBKSB’s Senior General Manager, Tuan Haji Syed Abdullah Bin Syed Omar have attended the handover ceremony along with PBKSB’s staff.

Tuan Haji Syed Abdullah credits their previous experience with their 3 GR-550EX and 2 GR-700EX models with their decision.

“Based on our experience, we knew these two Tadano rough terrain cranes would be the right choice as we expand,” said, adding “Quality is above expectation. They are very strong on reliability and safety while being easy to operate and maneuver.”

From the users’ interview, they noted “more lifting reach, better transport-optimized designs, and bigger capacities” with Tadano cranes along with good after-sales service.

The new cranes will be primarily used to handle lifts for oil and gas equipment, a large and growing portion of PBKSB’s business at Kemaman Supply Base, which already makes use of 27 cranes and 2 aerial work platforms.

The GR-300EX rough terrain crane provides 30t of lifting capacity, a 4-section long boom extending 9.7 m-31.0 m, and a 2-staged jib ranging from 7.2 m-12.8 m. The GR-500EXL model offers 51t of capacity with a 5-section long boom extending 11.0 m – 42.0 m – the longest in its class - with a 2-staged under slung jib.

Both models include Tadano’s innovative and intuitive AML-C Load Moment Indicator, which provides the operator with all important information and offers presets for a custom working environment, allowing seamless movement through all lifting operations without having to change configurations or input new codes. AML-C closely monitors fuel consumption, while Eco-Mode can reduce fuel consumption and emissions by 22-30%. The Positive Control System controls hydraulic pump discharge and, during idling, can reduce fuel consumption and CO2 emissions by up to 20%. The Hello-Net System can monitor crane activity straight from a computer or mobile device, providing work history, machine position data and maintenance information between the owners and Tadano Group.

Multico, Tadano’s Malaysian distributor, presented the cranes at the handover and will provide after-sales support, as it currently does with the five other Tadano cranes in PBKSB’s fleet. The ongoing maintenance program between Multico and PBKSB ensures consistent service and operational reliability.

“These cranes need to operate 3-4 hours per activity with up to 3-4 activities each day without breaking down”, Tuan Haji Syed Abdullah said, “Tadano delivers the necessary safety and reliability along with responsive service.

AI integration can affect the future of cranes and their operation. heyTADANO is an evolving AI-powered crane assistant that provides instant access to Tadano knowledge anywhere, anytime. It was showcased at, among other places, CES 2025 in Las Vegas, USA and Bauma 2025 in Munich, Germany earlier this year.

Tadano and its Malaysian distributor Multico are proud to deliver these new two cranes to PBKSB and look forward to more years of service, support, and expansion.
