Tadano recently completed a successful exhibit at CSPI-EXPO, the annual International Construction & Survey Productivity Improvement (CSPI) Exposition. It’s the largest such event in Japan, bringing together people across the construction and surveying industries to help solve industry issues, address ways to improve productivity while minimizing environmental impact, and develop the next generation of talent and the industry itself.

The CSPI-EXPO took place from June 18-21, 2025 at Makuhari Messe in Chiba City, one of the largest convention centers in Japan. Over 50,000 attended this year’s show.

CSPI-EXPO became a four-day event this year instead of the previous three days, with a Saturday addition on June 21st offering anyone the opportunity to attend, see and learn about the equipment, meet representatives from the participating companies, and discover what opportunities the industry may offer.

The Tadano Group Booth: “Reaching new heights”

With the slogan “Reaching new heights,” Tadano’s booth rose above, attracting over 5,000 visitors during the Expo. The slogan illustrates how The Tadano Group is a leading company in the industry, consistently providing new value for customer safety as well as for the global environment.

Tadano continues to advance strategic and tactical plans designed for the short-, medium-, and long-term. Many of these initiatives were on display at CSPI-EXPO, including “Venturing into New Fields” and “Advancing Decarbonization,” with active examples.

CRANET Remote Operation on Demonstration

An example of venturing into new fields is CRANET, Tadano’s new Mobile Crane Remote Operation System. A remote operation demonstration allowed attendees direct viewing of the CRANET cockpit, installed in the Tadano booth inside the convention center. With CRANET remotely connected to an EVOLT eGR-250N rough terrain crane on the grounds outside, all operations were performed from the indoor cockpit with the outdoor crane completely unmanned. Visitors could view the live operation of the crane via a monitor inside the booth in real-time to see CRANET in action.

The Crane Operation Training Simulator

Every crane operating company wants to be able to recruit and train new crane operators as well as advance the level of training for established operators.

The Crane Operation Training Simulator allows operators to learn about and train to handle a wide range of scenarios from basic crane operations for various models to navigating work in the field across the wide potential landscape of job sites. Attendees were able to try out the features at the exhibition; they ranged from real crane operators to young children, who may be inspired to operate cranes in the future.

The Manitex Group joined the Tadano Group in January 2025; Tadano’s booth at CSPI-EXPO exhibited two of their products that are currently sold overseas and have yet to be released in Japan. One of them is Oil & Steel OctoPlus 21, hybrid self-propelled arial work platform. Like other models in the line, the OctoPlus 21 is equipped with double pantograph articulation, providing flexibility for movements unique this category including perfectly vertical ascent/descent.

The OctoPlus 21 was demonstrated by radio controller in front of visitors as a promotional video highlighted the compact nature of the model and its ease of travel when retracted.

The other product on display at CSPI-EXPO originally from the Manitex Group was the Valla V180R. A fully electric radio-controlled pick and carry crane, the Valla V180R captured a lot of attention for its unique design. The Valla V180R has an 18t capacity with a wireless control box. Operations were demonstrated via radio-control.

Crawler type telescopic boom lift AS-21PCN was on display at CSPI-EXPO, where visitors could experience the heights of the 20.9m max of the platform, enjoy the view, and appreciate the versatility of the crawler-type platform with its telescopic boom.

Participants could take a test ride in the crane cab of EVOLT eGR-250N as well. This proved popular with EXPO guests each day, but particularly when it was open to the public on Saturday, where many children took particular delights in experiencing the test ride.

Dai Okajima, Manager of the Public Relations and Publicity Group for Tadano Ltd., said “The booth was more successful than last year, and we were able to promote our company's current situation (business expansion, advanced technology, environmental initiatives, etc.) to a wide range of generations, including the general public. The high motivation and responsible involvement shown by the approximately 150 Tadano staff and vendors in total was a major achievement, and we believe it was this that led to the success of this event”.
