Access & Fall Protection

Tadano designs its cranes to provide safe, ergonomic access throughout rigging, maintenance, and lifting operations. From intuitive access concepts to dedicated fall protection systems, these features help reduce risks when working at height.

Intuitive Access Concept

All Tadano all terrain cranes feature an intuitive access concept with fixed ladders on the carrier and an additional assembly ladder for reaching key components during rigging.

Anti-slip coating on the carrier deck and counterweight slabs further reduces the risk of slipping in wet or icy conditions, while carefully positioned handholds and steps make movement around the crane secure and predictable.

Fall Protection

Working at height is one of the leading risk factors on construction sites—and with the size and scale of modern all terrain cranes, that risk can be significant. Tadano cranes are designed to minimize or completely eliminate the need for operators to work unprotected at elevated positions.

If work at height is unavoidable, Tadano provides a wide variety of fall-protection systems. Depending on the model, dedicated systems can be installed for the superstructure, boom, or counterweight rigging area. These include safety harness interfaces, telescopable safety masts, and catwalks with anti-slip surfaces for lattice booms.

Totem Mast for Safe Rigging & Disassembly

For several models, a totem mast is available for safe rigging of the counterweight and boom disassembly.

These masts include a secure connection interface for attaching a safety harness, ensuring operators remain protected during critical setup and teardown activities.

Available for: Tadano AC 4.100L-1, AC 5.130-1, AC 5.160-1, AC 5.220L-1, AC 5.250-1, AC 5.250(L)-2 and AC 6.300-1

Advanced Fall Protection for Large Cranes

On the AC 8.500-1 and AC 9.700-1, Tadano offers a comprehensive fall protection system for the main boom. This includes a cable-guided safety line, anti-slip coatings, and lattice-section catwalks with integrated ladders.

For counterweight rigging, telescopable safety masts and steps provide operators with a secure platform to work from, even on very large cranes.

Available for: Tadano AC 8.500-1 and AC 9.700-1

Boom Tilting to -5°

On smaller 2- and 3-axle models, Tadano minimizes the need for elevated work by allowing the boom to be tilted to -5°.

This enables rigging and inspection tasks to be completed from ground level, reducing exposure to height hazards.

Available for: Tadano AC 3.045-1 City and AC 3.060-2
